Early 2016 'Final Fantasy 7' Remake Release Date Hinted By Port Trophy List, Tetsuya Nomura?

While it is not confirmative news about the high anticipated "Final Fantasy 7" remake, the recent discovery of PS4 trophies for the port does provide a clearer timeline of this Square Enix iteration.

According to Exophase, a website that tracks trophies and achievements, 32 Trophies have been found for the PS4 port of "Final Fantasy 7." Although initially rumored to be released in October, the release date for this port is now looking to be relatively soon.

"Achievement and trophy lists typically don't appear until a game is close to release, usually a month or so in advance at most," wrote Gamerant contributor Dalton Cooper.

Reportedly, the PlayStation Experience event is taking place this week, so rumors are circulating that the release date could be as early as this month.

The fact that the "Final Fantasy 7" port is being released before the remake is not a surprise, but beyond the production process, it's possible reliving the original experience will enhance the story and mythology for the remake. A similar example could be "Final Fantasy X" and "Final Fantasy X-2."

Speaking with Dengeki, director Tetsuya Nomura stated that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake is not just a complete rehash of the 1997 original.

"I can't share too much for now, but it won't be a simple remake," said Nomura according to Siliconera. "This time, since the story is being handled by Nojima, that also means that there will be more work added to it, so please look forward to that as well."

Reportedly, an announcement about the remake will be made this Winter, so is it possible that an early 2016 release date could be set, with the port to release this Christmas season?
