Former Girls' Generation Member Jessica Jung Reportedly Working On Solo Album

It looks like there will be new music from Jessica Jung in the new year.

Former Girls' Generation member Jessica Jung recently revealed that she is working on her first solo album. The singer-turned-fashion designer made the announcement through an interview alongside a pictorial in the Korean magazine High Cut.

"I never said I was leaving the entertainment industry," Jung clarified in her interview, a little over a year after her departure from Korea's top girl group.

Jessica previously released four songs and three duets as a soloist while under SM Entertainment, Girls' Generation's agency.

Rumors relating to Jessica's impending solo career circulated as early as February of this year, after the singer posted a picture on Instagram revealing herself sitting in a recording studio in New York City.

In 2014, Jung made headlines for leaving the girl group after being a member since their debut in 2007. Jessica took to her personal Weibo account to explain that she had been "forced out" of Girls' Generation due to scheduling conflicts and Jessica's focus shifting to her fashion brand, Blanc & Eclare (formerly known as Blanc.)

Jessica remained under SM Entertainment after leaving the girl group, but as of last August she formally left the Korean entertainment agency and is managing her own activities.
