Mom Fakes Son’s Cancer To Scam Friends And Family For Cash

Susan Stillwaggon a mom from New Jersey is accused of faking her son's cancer in order to scam money out of friends and family. It is said that the mom not only lied to her family about her son's cancer but had the little boy convinced he was gravely ill.

According to CBS the mom used her Facebook page to let people know her son who is only in elementary school had cancer. Concerned member of the boy's family and friends from school held bake sales in order to raise money for the sick boy so his mom could get treatments for his cancer.

CBS reports that the community became aware that the mom had faked her son's cancer after a police department gave them the tip. CBS did not say how the police department came to know the mom had faked her son's cancer.

CBS reports the concerned community alerted local police and Stillwaggon was arrest for "theft by deception."

MSN.com says the mom accused of faking her son's cancer is now under evaluation at a psychiatric unit. Reports say the police are looking into how much money the woman was able to swindle out of her concerned community.

They are urging anyone who gave this woman money via fundraising efforts to contact the authorities.
