Rafael Nadal Advances Into ATP Barcelona Finals; World No. 5 defeats Milos Raonic of Canada in Saturday semifinals, Reaches Sixth Consecutive ATP Tour Final

The wins keep coming for Rafael Nadal. The world No. 5 tennis player from Spain has advanced into the finals of the ATP Tour clay court event in Barcelona, defeating Milos Raonic of Canada 6-4, 6-0. Nadal has had to win three matches in the last three six hours after rain halted most of the matches during Thursday's schedule of play.

After falling behind an early break of serve in the first set, it was smooth sailing for Nadal. He won 11 of the final 12 games in the match to move into the finals, where he will play fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro. Nadal has never lost to Almagro in any of their nine previous matches and seven of those wins have come on clay courts,

Nadal returned from a knee injury this past February that had sidelined him since losing in the second round of Wimbledon. He missed the US Open, ATP Tour World Finals in London and the London Olympics, where he was scheduled to be the flag bearer for Spain.

Since then, he has returned to dominant form. With his win today, Nadal has reached the finals in all six ATP Tour events he has played so far this year and posted a 26-2 record so far in 2012.

He has won the Masters Series event in Indian Wells, as well as ATP Tour titles in Sao Paulo and Acapulco. He also reached the finals at the ATP Tour event in Vina Del Mar and the Masters Series event last week in Monte Carlo. World No. 1 Novak Djokovic defeated Nadal in last week's final, snapping the Spaniard's 19-match win streak.

Nadal will play the ATP Tour Masters Series events next month in Rome and Madrid, ultimately leading to his title defense at Roland Garros from May 27-June 9.
