One Direction, step aside. GOT7 is here.
On Monday, social media site Twitter released its list of the top trending topics throughout 2015. The trend list was sorted by topic, and K-pop dominated the music category.
GOT7 came in second in Twitter's 2015 music trends ranking.
EXO, BTS, and Big Bang appeared in fourth, sixth, and tenth place on the rankings, respectively.
The list was dominated by boy bands, with One Direction taking the top spot. British girl group Fifth Harmony was the only female act included in the top ten music trends, and appeared at, fittingly, the fifth place on the list.
Twitter's trending topics highlight the global popularity of GOT7, EXO, BTS, and Big Bang's. Each act has large, devoted fanbases.
All four groups released new music this year and picked up several awards throughout the year and at recent year-end ceremonies.
BTS's name was the only K-pop idol group to appear trending in Korean on the Twitter list (#방탄소년단), although SBS MTV's weekly music show "The Show" trended in Korean (#더쇼) on Twitter's top ten television trends of 2015.
