10 Band Members of the Group La Reyna De Monterrey Were Killed In Vehicle Collision In Northern Mexico On Saturday[VIDEO]

10 members of the Mexican musical group La Reyna de Monterrey have been tragically killed and five injured in a car accident in northern Mexico on a major highway between Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The band was returning from a performance in Nuevo Laredo on Friday night.

The driver of the vehicle fell asleep at the wheel Saturday morning, causing the vehicle to strike the side of a truck then cross over into the other lane crashing head on with a tractor-trailer.

The vehicle collision was so intense that many band members were thrown from the vehicle onto the highway.

The major highway was closed to one lane of traffic while the scene was cleaned up, the dead were removed, and the injured were tended to.

La Reyna de Monterrey played the musical genre known as Banda music. Their last gig was at a bar called Tamaulipas on Friday night.

La Reyna de Monterrey's Facebook page states:

"My most sincere condolences to family and friends. It is a great loss. God has called them to sing with His angels."
