"Rocky" musical on Broadway in 2014 is set to bring the hit-movie to the stage into a musical. The award-winning movie "Rocky," will now be playing on the New York City stage almost 40 years later.

Broadway has produced many hits and many failures on the Manhattan stage, and movies turned into plays have become common and now "Rocky" musical on Broadway in 2014 was set.

The 1976 film, "Rocky" was both written by and starring Sylvester Stallone. It told the rags to riches American Dream story of Rocky Balboa, who was an uneducated debt collector for a loan shark in the city of Philadelphia, Penn. turned boxing legend.

"I couldn't be more proud or more excited about this production and how my original story of Rocky Balboa has been brought to spectacular life onstage. The story of Rocky was very much like my life at the time - starting out with nothing, having to fight for roles and recognition. So I put those feelings into the body of a boxer, and I had no idea there were so many millions of people that felt the same way," Stallone said in a statement, reported by USA Today.

Rocky is set to begin previews next February and open in March at the Winter Garden Theatre.

"Rocky" as a musical debuted last year in Hamburg, Germany. The musical features a book by Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray), music and lyrics by, respectively, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Once on This Island) and direction by Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Peter and the Starcatcher), according to USA Today.
