K-Beauty Review [+VIDEO]: DR. JART+ BB Mate Contouring 1.2.3 Kit

Contouring has become very popular thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian, but it's not the easiest to master. From orange streaks of bronzer to a face sparkling with shimmer, it can easily go wrong. Dr. Jart+ makes it easy with their BB Mate Contouring 1.2.3 Kit. Find out if it will turn you into a contoured goddess in our K-Beauty review. Watch the video review below!

Description

The Dr. Jart+ BB Mate Contouring 1.2.3 Kit is made up of three shades of BB cream with SPF 30: highlight, neutralizing, and bronzing. The product boasts having Niacina-mide for brightening, anti-aging benefits, snow lotus extract, the antioxidant power of rosehip, moringa, and avocado oils.

Packaging

The packaging sets this product apart. It comes in a cute, Moleskine-like book, with an elastic strap to keep it all together. Each tube of product has its own spot in a foam casing, as well as a pamphlet that advises where to put each shade on the face. Each tube comes with a doe-foot applicator, much like concealers do.

Application

Start with the highlighter and sweep the applicator on parts of your face that you want to emphasize, such as cheekbones, under the eyes, down the nose, chin, and middle of the forehead.

Blend with your fingers or a makeup sponge.

Next, use the neutralizing tube on areas you would like to cover up, especially places with redness, such as around the nose, around the mouth, and over any lines of blemishes. Also apply to make transition from highlighter to bronzer more natural. Blend.

Lastly, use the bronzing tube and sweep the applicator around the hairline, under the cheekbones (make a fish face and and apply in the areas that get sucked in), on the sides of the nose, and under the jawline. Blend well.

Results

I had never contoured before using this kit, but the directions included in this package make it dummy-friendly. It takes a bit of practice to find where to put the shades to best play up the natural shape of your face, but once you get the hang of it you quickly become a pro.

Dr. Jart+ doesn't lie - this product is easy to apply and blend, and is smooth and cooling on the face. The shades seem like they would work on most skin tones - I was worried I would be too yellow for the neutralizing but it blended nicely into my face. The product is also quite light - I often forget I'm wearing contour. Also, a huge perk is that none of the products are shimmering or sparkly, which is usually where highlighters can go wrong. Because the product isn't heavy, it actually feels like it is doing my skin good.

My face came out looking more sculpted. I was shocked at the results and love to turn to this product when I want to look great in photos.
