Sarah Palin Calls 'Nerd Prom' White House Correspondent's Dinner Guests 'Pathetic A-- Clowns' on Twitter and Facebook [Video]

Sarah Palin's "Nerd Prom" comments as Barack Obama and Conan O'Brien performed at Saturday night's White House Correspondent's Dinner became the big story in the wake of the event, as Palin took to Twitter to call those involved "a-- clowns."

Palin took to Twitter as Conan O'Brien hosted the annual shindig for celebrities, politicians and others from inside the beltway's political elite--as they gathered to lightly roast the President and themselves.

But Palin took offense to their comedic schmoozing, going on Twitter to express her frustration with the lame cronyism of the event.

The 49-year-old former governor of Alaska, who first burst onto the political scene as John McCain's choice for Vice Presidential running mate in 2008, didn't leave it at the lone Tweet. She also took to her popular Facebook page to criticize the "#NerdProm" participants.

"Yuk it up media and pols. While America is buried in taxes and a fight for our rights, the permanent political class in DC dresses up and has a prom to make fun of themselves. No need for that, we get the real joke."

CNN duly notes that Palin has lost her spot on Fox News, and she's never attended the yearly event. But in 2011, she attended the MSNBC and Vanity Fair after-parties while her daughter, Bristol, went to the dinner, and Palin spoke to a group of antiabortion activists.

Palin had said in her speech, "I choose life," ostensibly over the lush party. In 2009, she was supposed to attend as a guest of Fox News, but canceled her plans after a major flood in her home state of Alaska. Her husband, Todd Plain, attended in her place.

NBC News anchor, Tom Brokaw, recently made headlines when he recently said Lindsey Lohan's inclusion cheapened the event, telling Politico, "The breaking point for me was Lindsay Lohan. She became a big star at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Give me a break."

Palin--despite her daughter and husband attending the event in prior years--has often criticized the "lamestream media" with its cozy relationship to politicians.
