Actor Ji Chang Wook Says There's A Bit Of Himself In Every Character He Plays

Actor Ji Chang Wook, known for his roles in dramas such as "Empress Ki" and "Healer," recently visited Singapore. At a press conference on December 6 at The Westin, the actor expressed his happiness at the warm welcome he received.

Even though it was not his first time in Singapore, it was his first official visit and his first time meeting media and fans representing the brand Shokubutsu.

Ji said that he likes to pamper his friends and loved ones, just as the brand's products were created to pamper consumers.

As an actor who needs to look good despite always being on the go, Ji Chang Wook revealed that he does not have any specific grooming routine. He said, "I try to eat well, sleep well and have a very regular routine so that it does not disrupt my daily life." Because he uses makeup everyday, cleansing is important to him. He said that he prefers mildly-scented products over strongly-scented ones.

Ji Chang Wook said that after a long day at work, he alleviates stress by showing and getting comfortable. When asked whether was there any shower scene that was memorable in his dramas, he shared his experience of shooting a scene in Empress Ki, where his character Ta Hwan bathed in a huge tub filled with rose petals while at the same time hiding Seung Nyang, played by Ha Ji Won, under the water. The scene later on leads on to a kissing scene between the two characters. The actor said that rather than being embarrassed while shooting the scene, it was a very fresh experience for him as it was his first time doing such scene.

He humbly rated himself as a 7.5 out of a possible 10 and said that his image as a warm, caring and thoughtful guy had a lot to do with the roles he plays. He puts a lot of his heart into playing his roles. He said, "So many times the audience sees me as the role I play so every time I play that kind of role, I try to keep it that way."

When asked which character that he could relate the most to, he said, "They are very unique characters, not very normal, so I cannot say that there are many similarities between myself and the characters but those are the characters that I have made so there is a little bit of Ji Chang Wook in every character I played." He also further mentioned that there are many roles that he would like to play so as long as it is interesting, he would like to give it a try.

Ji recently finished filming the movie, "Fabricated City," which will be shown next year. Other than that, the actor is also busy filming a Chinese drama, "Mr Right." Currently focusing on the Chinese market, Ji Chang Wook said that aside from film and drama, he is also passionate about music and even though there is no concrete plan for him to pursue music, he would like to explore the opportunity to expand his talent.

Following the media session, Ji Chang Wook met with almost 150 lucky fans who scored tickets for a private fan meeting. Two games were played during the fan meeting, which focused on the Shokubutsu shower foam. Fans who were chosen for both games later received a poster, personally signed by Ji Chang Wook. Additionally, 15 more fans were later chosen to receive a signed poster and a candy cane from the actor.
