Girl Power! Victoria Beckham To Open Retail Clothing Store In London; Former Spice Girl Wants To Create Fashion Trends For Women

Fashion icon Victoria Beckham is looking to launch a fashion empire. The former Spice Girl and wife to soccer star David Beckham announced that she is looking to open her very first retail clothing store in London. The store will focus exclusively on creating fashion for women.

"London is where I want to have my first store...I'd like to do something that is really new, really fresh. Something a little bit conceptual but not too much," she told British Vogue yesterday at London's Royal Festival Hall.

However, this is not Beckham's first foray into the fashion world. She created a limited clothing line in 2008 that immediately sold out, earning her a reputation as a fashionista who could get A-listers to wear her clothes including Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow and Anne Hathaway.

I think it's important for women to not just focus on the fantasy and the ideal," said Beckham. "But actually what is right for themselves because everyone's bodies are different and all of them are beautiful in their own way."

She's also designed a line of jeans for Rock & Republic and also her own denim brand, dVb Style. She's also produced a range of handbags and jewelry which have been sold worldwide, as well as a line of sunglasses and fragrances which were sold in the US and UK. Her various product ventures have racked up after $200 million in sales as of 2013.

Beckham cemented her status as a fashion icon by appearing on the cover of Vogue on three separate occasions and winning the Designer of the Year award at the 2011 British Fashion Awards.

For red carpet events, she also previously had a deal with Roberto Cavali to be dressed exclusively by him for red carpet and social events.

When her time with the Spice Girls on a full-time basis came to a close, she also briefly pursued a modeling career that landed her ad campaigns with Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs.
