Emeli Sande' Breaks Beatles Debut Album Record; Steals 50 Year Record On UK Top 10 Charts [VIDEO]

Aberdeenshire's Emeli Sandé has broken The Beatles' record for most weeks an album has been in the UK Top 10 album charts.

The Fab Four's Please Please Me went into the charts following its release in 1963 and stayed in the top ten selling albums until the summer of 1964, a grand total of 62 weeks.

Sandé's Our Version of Events has now been in the Official Top Ten for 63 consecutive weeks, surpassing the Beatle's record that has stood for nearly half a century.

Our Version Of Events has sold 429,000 copies since January of this year and is the biggest selling album of 2013 so far. Emeli Sande' has also picked up Best Album Awards at both the MOBO Awards and the BRITs.

The singles Read All About It and Clown have sold 1.82 million copies since its release last February and was still sitting at number five when this week's charts were released on Sunday.

Sande' married marine biologist Adam Gouraguine in his home nation of Montenegro in September 2012. Sandé has said she will take his name and be known as Emeli Sandé Gouraguine, although it is unclear when.

When the 26-year old was told of beating out the biggest band of all time Sande' said:

"I'm completely lost for words and this is something I could only have dreamed of. The Beatles are the greatest band of all time and their legacy lives on and continues to inspire all of us that make music."

"I'm so happy that so many people have connected with the stories and the songs on the record, this really is our version of events now."

"I'd like to say thank you to everyone that has bought, played or shared my music in the last year, without your support this would never have been possible."

Big accomplishment from one little Brit. Watch her sing her hit single "Clown." It's pretty lovely.
