After 3 long years, Cube Entertainment's boy group BTOB (short for Born To Beat) finally returned to the shores of Singapore on December 4 with 'I Mean' Fan Meet, much to the delight of their dedicated fans (known as Melodies).
The K-pop group to kicked off the star-studded weekend in conjunction with the SGKStar festival. Held at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, BTOB impressed an audience of over 1000 fans and had the atmosphere heated up right from the start. Smartly suited up in a navy blue and black ensemble, the charming members of BTOB first appeared on stage and blew the crowd away with title track 'WOW'. The upbeat song had fans hyped up and waving their blue fan light sticks.
Despite their good looks, BTOB members were sporting enough to showcase their not-so-glamorous and 'ugly' facial expressions during the fan meeting. The game, which was one of the main highlights of the night, required them to represent a particular situation or emotion through their faces. Leader Eunkwang and Changsub were the fan favourites as they went all out to win the game but it was idol-actor Sungjae who won a point for showing a feminine girlish expression.
The next part of the fanmeet was the much-anticipated fan interaction session. The members picked out a total of 7 heart-shaped post-its which had their fans' wishes written on them. It was no surprise that a fan's top wish would be to have some sort of skinship with their favourite idol. Most of the wishes were requests for hugs and selfies, which the septet willingly obliged and they even went beyond what was requested. Hyunsik gave a backhug to his selected fan partner, who turned out to be wearing a jersey with Ilhoon's name while Eunkwang made a 'kiss face' during his selfie with his fan partner. The happiest fan has got to be the fan girl who requested for a sandwich hug by two members, but ended up receiving a tight group hug by all the members.
Although the bulk of the fan meet was spent on the games and fan interaction segments, BTOB performed their popular and well-loved tracks from upbeat songs like 'Insane' and 'Beep Beep' to ballads like 'Way Back Home' and 'It's Okay'. A handful of fans went home with a love token from the septet who threw roses and teddy bears while performing 'Like A Crystal'.
The night ended with BTOB's their final encore song 'Shake It' before proceeding to the Hi-Touch and Group Photo session. Before saying their goodbyes, Eunkwang promised to return to Singapore, possibly next year and made fans pinky promise to meet them when they come again. "Please wait for us. I love you guys, thank you!" Ilhoon's ended his farewell speech in English with flawless pronunciation while Minhyuk reminded fans not to cheat on BTOB and to continue listening to their songs and loving them. One thing's for sure, the deafeningly loud cheers and tear-stained faces of some fans certainly implied that BTOB won't be cheated on anytime in the near future!
