There's a new 12-member girl group on the horizon.
Starship Entertainment, home of Sistar and MONSTA X, is planning to debut a 12-member girl group called "Cosmic Girls," abbreviated as "WJSN."
The agency released photos of three of the girls for the first time. The newly-revealed members, Cheng Xiao, Bona, and Dayoung, make up the "Wonder" subunit of the group. Starship intends to create four subunits to represent four elements of the universe.
Cosmic Girls is comprised of both Korean and Chinese members, and will be the largest female K-pop group in history. One of the three revealed members, Cheng Xiao, is Chinese, and other two, Bona and Dayoung, are Korean.
According to Starship, they plan to release one teaser of the other subunits per week to build anticipation and hype for the group.
The group is actually jointly-managed by Starship and Chinese talent agency Yuehwa Entertainment, which will allow them to operate smoothly in both the Korean and Chinese markets.
