"Star Wars" fever is affecting millions of people around the globe, and now a former K-pop idol has turned into a Jedi to to promote the film.
Luhan, formerly of EXO, appeared in a minute-long commercial for the soon-to-be released film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The short film features Luhan transforming into a Jedi alongside other "Star Wars" characters and images of China flash through the screen.
The entertainer is the official Chinese ambassador for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the seventh installment in the "Star Wars" series.
EXO, Luhan's former K-pop group, are the official ambassadors of "Star Wars" in South Korea, and recently released Korean and Chinese-language music videos for their "Star Wars" promotional track, "Lightsaber."
The commercial featuring "Luhan" was uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday by the singer's personal agency, Luhan Studio.
Last week, it was revealed that Luhan would take a break from the entertainment industry to focus on his health following an extremely busy year.
In 2014, Luhan filed a contract nullification lawsuit against EXO's agency, SM Entertainment, citing mistreatment by the entertainment company towards himself and other Chinese-nationality members of the idol group. Luhan was the second of three Chinese members to leave EXO.
The lawsuit, as well as a countersuit by SM Entertainment regarding Luhan's breach of contract during his promotions in China, is currently ongoing.
Since leaving EXO, Luhan has pursued a career in China and appeared in multiple movies and commercials. He recieved multiple popularity awards in China over the past few years.
