William And Kate Wedding Cost $34 Million: Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton Anniversary, Wedding Cost $34 Million, Most Expensive In History

William and Duchess Kate Wedding cost $34 Million: The wedding of Prince William and Duchess Kate two years ago cost British taxpayers $34 million dollars. It was most likely the most expensive wedding in history. This figure includes flowers to decorate the Westminster Abbey, which racked up $800,000. And security was reported to be estimated at $32 million, eating up the lion's share of the budget.

And, of course, there were Kate's dress and wedding band, which cost $434,000 and 11,000, respectively.  The wedding band was Welsh gold from Prince William's late mother, Princess Diana. Kate's parents sprang for the dress. The reception was held in 19 staterooms in Buckingham Palace, where guests noshed on $150,000 of food and 60,000 of champagne.

The pair spent $34 million overall on the lavish wedding at Westminster Abbey.

Their two-year anniversary, though, was much more intimate and cozy. It was spent privately on April 29th. "I'm afraid we're not giving any details on their anniversary plans, as [they are] private," a rep for St. James' Palace said.

We do know a bit about their activities in the last week to celebrate the big day before the actual day-William and Kate toured the Harry Potter and Batman exhibits at Warner Brothers Studios in London, then shared a romantic dinner . For the weekend, they went in Norfolk and exchanged "appropriate" gifts (paper is the traditionally-appropriate second anniversary gift in the UK).

On the official day, the pair have to be apart during the daytime-- William's on duty in north Wales with the RAF doing helicopter search and rescue operations; Kate visited Naomi House Children's Hospice in Hampshire for tea. The children there made a picture of the main character from the children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar from of felt and paper and gave it to Kate as an anniversary gift. Which is quite fitting, as paper is the traditionally-appropriate second anniversary gift in the UK.

Kate announced her pregnancy in December, and her baby bump is getting bigger by the day. The couple will soon have even more to celebrate!

As an anniversary gift, the children at Naomi House made a picture of the main character from the children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar out of felt and paper.
