The 101 contenders for an upcoming K-pop girl group made their television debut on Thursday.
This week's "M! Countdown" marked the first formal appearance of the 101 contestants on upcoming "Produce 101." The female K-pop trainees performed the EDM-pop track "Pick Me."
All 101 female trainees performed ahead of Mnet's "Produce 101" airing next month.
The hundred plus K-pop trainees are competing for 11 spots in a Starship Entertainment girl group, which will be voted on by viewers of the show.
For their first broadcast performance, the female trainee were split into different units. The bubblegum-EDM track, "Pick Me," provided a space for the women to demonstrate their skills as dancers and singers.
Included in the "Produce 101" competitors are several high profile trainees. The camera froze momentarily on members of DIA who have temporarily withdrawn from the group to compete in "Produce 101," and also highlighted trainees who previously appeared on survival competition shows such as "Sixteen," which produced the JYP girl group Twice, and "Kara Project," which led to the addition of Heo Youngji to Kara.
