Jamie Lee Curtis has been discussing her drug and alcohol addiction openly.  Jamie Lee Curtis got her big break in the 70s with the first Halloween film and appeared in countless films since then.

Still, Jamie Lee Curtis says her recovery from drug abuse is her greatest achievement. She has talked in an increasingly open way about her alcoholism and drug abuse recently.

This past weekend, Curtis, 54, headlined an event for of The Council On Alcohol And Drugs Houston. The gala raised $700,000 for their programs. She said

"My recovery from drug addiction is the single greatest accomplishment of my life because it broke the cycle of addiction in my family."

Jamie Lee Curtis also called getting sober the bravest thing she's done, even though it was over 13 years ago. She said, "Getting sober was the single bravest thing I've ever done and will ever do in my life," she said, "Not [running] a 5K-facing an addiction. Being courageous enough to acknowledge it privately with my family and friends. Working really hard at solidifying it, getting support around it and being healthy. And then talking about it publicly."

In October, Curtis talked to Good Housekeeping about her alcoholism, saying "For a long time I felt like I was failing. I feel like a failure as a mother a lot, because despite my best efforts, I have replicated parts of how I was parented [that I didn't want to]," she said in the October 2012 issue of Good Housekeeping. "Even though I vowed not to and felt like I was doing it so differently, in many ways I repeated some of the same problems."

She's also written children's books, blogged extensively for the Huffington Post, inented an innovative diaper for babies, and, because she's married to Christopher Guest, gets the title of Lady Haden-Guest.
