BTS Confirmed For 5th Annual Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards

As the end of the year approaches, so do the end of the year music award shows and coveted yearly music chart assessments.

In the case of the 5th Annual Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, it happens to be an award show and draw upon their own music chart.

Following the announcement of both Big Bang and EXO's attendance at the 5th Annual Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, BTS has also been confirmed to appear at the ceremony. The upcoming Gaon K-pop Awards will be held in Seoul Student Gymnasium on February 17, 2016.

2015 has arguably been an extremely successful year for BTS, as the group managed to sell over 80,000 physical copies of their new album "The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Part 2" in the first week of its release. According to the Hanteo music chart, BTS had the 5th and 6th bestselling albums for the entire year of 2015, with "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Part 1" just beating out the second part. Both albums reportedly sold over 100,000 copies.

In addition to their album sales in Korea, BTS also managed to gain lots of fame in the U.S. Earlier this month, BTS' title song "Run" ranked number one on the U.S. iTunes K-pop Chart. Additionally, their album "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Part 2" also cracked the Billboard 200 top albums, debuting at number 171.

At the moment, BTS is continuing their "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life on Stage" tour. Unfortunately, the group had to cancel two of their stops in Japan due to medical concerns for members Suga and V. BTS' label Big Hit Entertainment announced that the pair were experiencing nausea and needed to be kept under watch.

Here's hoping BTS is back to full health in time for their appearance at the 5th Annual Gaon Chart K-pop Awards in February.
