Collaborations are common in music, with artists often working with their own favorite artists even if they don't make the same style of music.
Collaboration in K-pop differs in that it is rare for there to be a collaboration between artists from differing labels.
Perhaps that is why K-pop fans are brimming with excitement over the announcement that EXO's Baekhyun and miss A's Suzy will release a new collaboration song entitled "Dream." The duet is set to be released on Jan. 7.
"Baekhyun and Suzy! We already know it's going to be amazing because they're both amazing," said exoKexoM_23 on Allkpop.
According to Soompi, the collaboration between Suzy and Baekhyun was put forth by producer Park Geun Tae, who suggested that their individual talents could match well in a song. SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment are said to have both immediately agreed to the suggested collaboration.
"Dream" is described as a combination of pop and R&B that has a unique groove and emotional tone. The lyrics tell a classic love story between a man and woman.
The love song seems appropriate for Suzy, who is still in a relationship with actor Lee Minho. Meanwhile, Baekhyun sadly split from his girlfriend and SM Entertainment label mate Taeyeon in 2015.
Given Baekhyun's recent skills on EXO's winter album "Sing For You," it is likely that he is still very much able to capture the mood and emotions of love in a song.
"Dream" marks the beginning of activities for both Suzy and Baekhyun for the year of 2016. Baekhyun is fresh from the release of EXO's mini album "Sing For You" while Suzy recently appeared in the historical Korean film "The Sound of a Flower." Suzy is also set to appear opposite Kim Woo Bin in the K-drama "Recklessly Affectionate."
Here's hoping for a beautiful "Dream" provided by Baekhyun and Suzy.
