Kelsey Grammer To Play Villain In Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers 4’; ‘Transformers’ Reality Show Casts Chinese Actors

Kelsey Grammer is expected to play the villain in Transformers. Grammer, after playing a politician in Starz Networks' "Boss," will play a villain in Michael Bay's Transformers 4 starring Mark Wahlberg, according to Deadline.

Grammer has played in sci-fi action films before; he starred as 'Beast' in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Transformers will also star Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz. The film begins production in July. Ehren Krueger wrote the script for the next Bay film.

According to various reports, Grammer will play counterintelligence officer Harold Attinger in Transformers.

Although many actors have already been confirmed for the project, plot details remain unconfirmed. Bay recently revealed that the fourth film would take place four years after the events of 2011's Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, but the director stopped short of revealing anything else.

Despite Bay's reticence, the Transformers 4 storyline was leaked by the Michigan Film Office after the project was approved as a tax incentive to film in Detroit, according to Metro UK.

The office said in a statement, "As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet.

"However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessmen and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control - all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs."

Transformers 4 has recently garnered press for filling some roles through a reality show in China, reported Metro UK. Winners of the Chinese reality show (two professional and two amateur) will be cast in the film after impressing judges, including producer Lorenzo Dibonaventura, with their acting.

Bay said of the film and new cast, "We're going to start off smaller. There's a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we've redesigned everything from top to bottom. The history of the first three movies is still there, we start four years later and there's a reason why we're meeting a new cast."

The film is expected to release on June 27, 2014.
