South Korea Blasts K-Pop Towards North Korea

Following the news of an alleged hydrogen bomb test from North Korea, South Korea resumed propaganda attacks towards its northern neighbor. Speakers from the South blasted news, K-pop songs, criticism of Kim Jong Un and North Korean leadership, discussions of human rights, and propaganda from South Korea's leadership towards North Korea's border, where North Korean soldiers are located.

The music, which included Big Bang's "Bang Bang Bang" and songs by IU, Girls' Generation, GFriend, Apink and other South Korean artists were played from the speakers. The songs are expected to be heard by soldiers and shared with North Korea's populace. In the past, North Korean defectors reported that South Korean pop music is illicitly smuggled into North Korea and is very popular.

Big Bang's Seungri Caught Up In Real Estate Scam

The youngest member of Big Bang filed and then withdrew a lawsuit against Shin Eun Sung, a former singer that Seungri had a personal relationship with. Shin previously approached Seungri with an investment offer, which the Big Bang member was interested in. After a series of transactions, Seungri was out of more than $1.6 million USD and unable to contact.

Seungri dropped the lawsuit after Shin Eun Sung contacted him and resolved the misunderstanding.

Family Guy Loves K-Pop

Last Sunday night, Fox's "Family Guy" featured an episode that brought characters of the animated sitcom to South Korea. While in Seoul, the characters explored South Korean culture, including K-pop and K-dramas. Girl group Sistar was shown on screen several times, and the show ended with a parody of HyunA's "Bubble Pop" performed by Peter Griffin and friends. K-pop fans also noted that dances and stage outfits made popular by groups like Kara and EXO were also featured in the cover.
