Lee Hyeri, a member of the K-pop girl group Girl's Day, raked in close to $5 million USD last year from advertisement fees.
On Thursday, Korean media reported that Hyeri earned 6 billion Korean Won (around $4.9 million USD) from commercials in 2015. The news followed Hyeri's rise to popularity as an actress in the tvN series, "Reply 1988," which aired its final episode on Saturday.
According to Edaily, a local South Korean media outlet, Hyeri will share her earnings with her agency, DreamT Entertainment.
Korea's Ilgan Sports previously announced that Hyeri outranked miss A's Suzy as a brand model, the previously most-popular advertisement idol in South Korea.
Hyeri shot to fame in 2014 following a breakthrough moment on the Korean variety show "Real Man," where she and several other female celebrities emulated the lifestyle of soldiers in the Korean armed forces. A viral clip featuring Hyeri led to immense popularity for the Girl's Day member, who was then offered a variety of hosting and acting roles, including her breakout in "Reply 1988" as the lead character.
Other actors appearing in "Reply 1988," including Ahn Jae Hong and Park Bo Gum, also raked in advertisement contracts following the success of "Reply 1988."
