Hollywood Recognizes K-Pop: Jay Park Asked By Will Smith To Participate In OST

Slowly but surely, K-Pop is making it's way into mainstream American culture, and Jay Park's participation in the OST for a major motion picture is definitely a step in the right direction.

Legendary Hollywood actor, Will Smith, is said to have personally requested K-hip-hop b-boy Jay Park to feature in the Korean soundtrack for his upcoming futuristic Sci-Fi thriller, After Earth.

Jay Park's song "I Like to Party" will be the ending theme of the movie for its release in Korea and the rapper-singer directly participated in the writing and composing of the track.

The Korean premiere of After Earth will be later this month on May 30, but this weekend Jay Park and Will Smith will attend a red carpet event to promote the film at Yeongdeungpo Times Square in Seoul on May 7.

Jay Park posted a picture of Will Smith to his Instagram account detailing his excitement about participating in the After Earth OST and meeting the legendary actor in person. The caption read, "I've been watching this dude since I was like 4... going to be meeting him next week.. #nuts."

This is not the first time Will Smith has expressed an interest in K-Pop. Last May while in Seoul promoting his movie Men in Black 3, Smith mentioned the Wonder Girls at a press conference.

"My wife and daughter are very interested in international music. They told me about Wonder Girls, and I am a fan," he said. The veteran actor then went on to admit, "I'm very simple when it comes to my taste in music, and so I don't know too much about K-Pop."

It would appear, however, that Will Smith's taste for K-Pop has been expanding and fans of both him and Jay Park are eagerly awaiting the release of After Earth.
