The first footage from the film adaptation of Ender's Game, the classic science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card, has been released to YouTube. The footage is technically a teaser for the trailer of Ender's Game, so not much is revealed in the short clip.

In the Lionsgate film clip, Harrison Ford, who plays Colonel Hyrum Graff, and Asa Butterfield, who plays Ender Wiggin, introduce the footage and hint that a full trailer for Ender's Game will be released next week.

The clip shows a first look at Ben Kingsley's Mazer Rackham character, who has markings covering his face. Kingsley talked about his character's tattoos to Entertainment Weekly, "Every gesture in the tattoo carries family history, family struggles - it's your past. I was so enthralled. He's in quite a contained, stylized uniform but then this wonderful face tells his warrior history."

Kingsley added, "In the script, which I think is beautifully written, what comes across is the authority and mystery [of Mazer Rackham]. There's quite a lot about him in the story before you see him - by the recruits and by his fellow officers - and that's useful as far as preparations."

Ender's Game also stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis and Abigail Breslin. It was written and directed by Gavin Hood, who directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine. 

Ender's Game is a story about Earth being narrowly saved from an alien attack by International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham. To prepare for the next attack, Colonel Graff and the military train children to find the 'future Mazer.' Ender is chosen to join the ranks of children trained, and distinguishes himself in all challenges. Ender is then considered to be Earth's great hope and is tasked with leading the military into battle to save the human race.

Ender's Game will hit theaters on November 1. Check out the pre-trailer below:
