On Wednesday, Korean music label FNC Entertainment announced that solo singer Juniel plans to leave the agency.
Upon the expiration of Juniel's exclusive contract at the end of the month, the 22-year-old singer will not re-sign with FNC Entertainment. The company's statement declared that it was "Juniel's own intention" not to renew.
The soloist last made a comeback in 2015 with her digital single, "Sorry."
Juniel, who was born Choi Jun Hee, has been signed under FNC Entertainment since 2010, and initially promoted as an artist in Japan until she debuted in South Korea with "Illa Illa" in 2012. She became known as a singer-songwriter and appeared at many performances playing her guitar.
Along with her solo activities, Juniel was part of a project duo Romantic J with CNBLUE guitarist Lee Jong Hyun. CNBLUE is also represented by FNC Entertainment.
The singer announced no immediate plans following FNC's statement.
Juniel's contract expires at the end of the month," said FNC. "Both parties discussed whether or not to renew the contract, and in accordance with Juniel's own intention, we've decided not to renew the contract."
FNC Entertainment houses FTIsland, CNBLUE, AOA, N.Flying, and is set to debut a new boy band later this year.
