Top Korean multi-entertainer Lee Seung Gi has plans to become a "real man."
On Thursday, Lee's agency, Hook Entertainment, announced that the singer-turned-actor-turned-MC will enlist in the South Korean military on Feb. 1. Ahead of his enlistment, Lee Seung Gi released a farewell song for his fans.
"I'm Going To The Army" was released in Korea on Thursday, and expresses Lee's farewell to all those fans he can't greet in person, reports eNews.
"Because I couldn′t say goodbye to everyone in person, I expressed my sorry heart in the song," said Lee.
He also hoped that other members of the Korean armed forced could see their own feelings in.
"Although the song is my story, I hope it′s a song that all reserve soldiers can relate to with their family and friends."
Hook Entertainment revealed that Lee will be enlisting in active duty.
All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve in the Korean military for a period of around two years. Lee has previously stated he would enlist, but according to the statement he was waiting for his notice of enlistment.
Lee Seung Gi debuted as a singer with "Because You're My Woman" in 2004, then moved onto become one of South Korea's most popular young stars, with appearances in popular dramas and variety shows.
He most recently filmed "Marital Harmony," where he was cast as a matchmaker. Filming ended before the announcement of his enlistment.
Through his company's statement, Lee Seung Gi sent a goodbye message to his fans who have supported him throughout the years.
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the undeserving love I received until now, and I will return a real man."
