Lindsay Lohan Checks Into Betty Ford Center In Rancho Mirage; Actress Previously Rejected Rehabs In Westhampton Beach and Newport Beach

At long last, Lindsay Lohan has checked into rehab. The actress checked in late last night to the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA, where she will spend the next 90 days. Lohan checked into the Rancho Mirage based branch of the Betty Ford Center after bailing out of facilities in Westhampton Beach, NY and Newport Beach, CA.

Lohan was scheduled to check into a Westhampton Beach facility yesterday, but bailed at the last minute because the facility did not allow smoking. She then tried to enter the Newport Beach facility, but it was not approved by the judge in her case or the prosecutors. It also did not have a license to provide drug and alcohol rehab treatment and could only operate as a residential sober living facility.

She had yet to check into a treatment center by yesterday morning, a clear violation of the terms of her probation. Law enforcement officials confirmed that if she didn't check into treatment by 6 AM today in L.A., they would issue a warrant for her arrest.

She reportedly showed up yesterday at 10:30 a.m. to Morningside Recovery in Newport Beach, CA, two hours past the mandatory deadline to begin treatment, but never checked into the facility. The New York Daily News reports that a member of her entourage tried to wrangle up last minute demands regarding cell phone use and visitors, which were promptly denied. She never got out of the car and drove away just 20 minutes later.

"Ms. Lohan is in violation of her probation, that much is clear," said Santa Monica city prosecutor Terry White. Los Angeles Superior Judge James Dabney allowed Terry to conduct a one-week investigation to determine if Morningside would be a suitable location for Lindsay to complete her treatment.

Lindsay reportedly tried to get on a flight back to New York afterwards, but her father, Michael, stepped in and said that prosecutors would arrest her once she stepped off the plane if that happened. With no other options left besides prison, she acquiesced and checked herself into treatment for the sixth time.

Once she completes treatment, Lohan has reportedly been hired by entertainment website Celebuzz to blog about "lessons learned" during her rehab experience.
