Big Bang Only Has Around A Year Left
Last week, Big Bang's member T.O.P commented on the K-pop group's future while accepting an award at the Golden Disc Awards. In his acceptance speech, the rapper said that the group had "only about a year left," as the groupmembers are required by law to serve around two years in the South Korean military. In the speech, T.O.P also promised that the five men will mature and continue touching hearts while serving in the Korean military.
The comment follows one made by Taeyang at the 2015 MAMA awards.
Big Bang won three awards at the 2016 Golden Disc Awards.
China Declares Tzuyu's Flag-Waving Non-Problematic
Following a media frenzy, Chinese state media published an article last week that explicitly said it was within the realms of the official "One China" policy for a Taiwanese citizen to publicly wave a Taiwanese flag after TWICE's member Tzuyu came under fire from anti-Taiwanese-independnece singer Huang An. The 16-year-old faced fierce criticism from Chinese netizens (Internet users) and her company, JYP Entertainment, faced a crisis with upcoming Chinese activities getting cancelled, while Tzuyu became a hot topic ahead of last week's Taiwanese presidential election.
China's stance was published after Tzuyu issued video apology for causing the situation with her actions. Since the clarification, Tzuyu was greeted with an increase in popularity.
Singer-Actor Lee Seung Gi Releases Farewell Song
On Thursday, South Korean singer-turned-actor Lee Seung Gi revealed to fans that he is enlisting in the military on Feb. 1. The popular entertainer released the song "I'm Going To The Army" as a present for the fans who have supported him throughout his career, and as a promise for his return in two years.
Lee Seung Gi debuted as a singer in 2004 and became a popular singer, variety star and actor thanks to songs like "Because You're My Woman," and appearances on Korean shows like "Brilliant Legacy" and "1 Night 2 Days."
