Keira Knightley Gets Married! Knightley And James Righton Wedding In The South Of France

Keira Knightley and James Righton are officially married! The wedding was in France on Saturday.

Keira Knightley's wedding and marriage details were the source of rumors for several weeks. And now it's officially confirmed: Keira Knightley and James Righton tied the knot  in Mazan, France, near Marseilles, on Saturday.

The two got married in an intimate, private ceremony at the town hall in Mazan. There were only 11 guests present--just select family members and friends, the Daily Mail reports. Keira Knightley, 28 wore a knee-length ballet-style white dress with a tulle skirt and tight-fitting top, a fitted white Chanel jacket, and ballet flats. Small flowers were intertwined in her dark hair.  James Righton, 29, keyboardist for the band The Klaxons, wore a navy blue suit with a baby-blue tie and matching baby-blue pocket square.  The two made quite a dapper couple; their look could be described as crisp but casual. After the ceremony, the Knightley and Righton took off in a silver Renault Clio.

The ceremony was conducted in French by the town mayor, Aime Navello, who'd never even heard of the couple. "'The first I heard of the marriage was a couple of days ago when someone in my town hall who knew Keira took a message which asked for complete secrecy. I kept my word and didn't even inform any of my 27 town councilors," Navello said.

Navello, a retired schoolteacher, added "'Normally I know most of the couples I marry. Many of them are children I used to teach, but I haven't heard of Keira, nor for that matter James. Keira was a charming bride, very modest and simple in her attitude, as was James. I got the impression that it was a very moving experience for both of them."

The tiny size of the ceremony might be a bit of a shocker, but for Knightley, it makes sense. The actress told Ellen DeGeneres recently that she was never the kind of girl who had elaborate dreams of a "fantasy wedding," saying, "I don't get what the big deal is. You say, 'I do,' 'I do.' You drink a bit."

In fact, planning the whole thing made her a bit nervous. "It's all quite terrifying, and I sort of looked up on the Internet, if you're getting married, what should you do? I really don't have a clue," she said. Thankfully, she clearly figured it out-the ceremony appears to have been beautiful and just what she wanted.

Still, after the ceremony in the town hall, they celebrated with a few more people at Knightley's mother's home, which is just outside of town. About 50 people attended the reception, reportedly including Sienna Miller and Karl Lagerfeld, and Righton's band performed. It was held in a tent surrounded by centuries-old vineyards.
