One of South Korea's brightest young stars recently showed off her charitable side.
Girl's Day member and star of the popular teen drama "Reply 1988" Lee Hyeri has shown her generosity and selflessness through a recent anonymous charity donation, that even her agency was unaware of at the time.
It was revealed last week that the 21-year-old singer and actress made a donation of 50 million won (roughly $41,450 USD) to the Community Chest of Korea, specially earmarked to ensure stability in the lives of the elderly.
When asked about the donation, Hyeri's agency Dream T Entertainment informed Korean news outlet Osen, "She was thinking about the elderly who would be having a tough time getting through the cold winter."
"She wanted to ease their hardships, believing that her contribution would help feed and keep them warm," the agency rep continued. "Hyeri chose that specific charity because there was a time in her life when she too was worried about how to get by."
Initially, Dream T was not aware of Hyeri's donation. After she made the transaction, the "Reply 1988" star told her agency that she "hoped news of the donation did not make it outside of the company."
Hyeri has earned a total of nearly 6 billion won (approximately $5 million USD) through drama and advertisements and has frequently been predicted to be the next idol to reach $10 million in endorsement earnings.
