f(x) Name Fanclub After Seven Years
At their concert last week, K-pop girl group f(x) revealed that their fan club will officially be called "MeU." The announcement came seven years since the SM Entertainment girl group officially debuted in 2009 with the song "La Cha Ta."
The news of f(x)'s official fan club name was long overdue, since the girl group's fans have been clamouring for a title for several years. The title comes as f(x) develops their identity as a four member act, following the departure of former member Sulli.
CNBLUE Fined For Unauthorized Crying Nut Cover
Last week, K-pop rock band was handed down a fine by the Seoul Central Court regarding a performance from 2010. The boy band was fined 15 million KRW (around $12,500 USD) for performing Crying Nut's song "Deadly Offspring" on numerous occasions without receiving permission. The court's decision was in regard to a performance on Mnet's "M! Countdown" where CNBLUE lip-synced to Crying Nut's song.
GFriend Take Home Numerous Music Shows
Following rising popularity since their debut in 2015 with the song "Glass Beads" and a viral video featuring members of the group slipping on stage during a performance, 2016 started off in a big way for K-pop girl group GFriend. The group took home multiple wins on weekly Korean music shows for their latest song, "Rough," proving that they have staying power and managed to capture South Korea's attention as an act known for their sweet musical style and powerful dance routines.
