CNN Anchor Robbed, iPhone Stolen From Her Hand, Chunk Of Hair Pulled Out, Anchor Carol Costello Warns Of New "Apple Picking" Trend

Apple-picked IPhone stolen out of CNN anchor's hand: A CNN anchor is warning people against a new crime that police are calling 'Apple picking' after her iPhone was stolen out of her hand as she was talking on it. A chunk of her hair was pulled out in the ensuing fight. She called herself "angry, shaken, and sad".

CNN anchor Carol Costello was a victim of 'Apple picking' while walking on a busy street in Atlanta last week. Costello was walking and talking on her iPhone around 4.30pm when three teenagers ran up behind her, snatching the phone from her hand.

The CNN anchor, Carol Costello, struggled with one of the teenagers as he tried to grab the device out of her hand, but when he pulled out a chunk of her hair, she let go.

"I was robbed. And I am angry. I was walking down a beautiful, leafy Atlanta street, talking on my iPhone when three teenagers ran up behind me," Costello wrote. "One of them grabbed my iPhone. Stupidly I struggled to hold on to it. But, he was a big guy. And he pulled out a chunk of my hair. I let go."

"As he ran down the street, laughing, I hurled a few expletives his way. I felt no fear at the time, I was just angry. Now I'm angry, shaken and sad. What a lousy life those kids have ahead of them."

No arrests have been made but police have released a description of the teen who stole Costello's iPhone. He is a black male, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, of slight build and wearing a light gray or light blue sweatshirt with thin dark blue stripes. On Friday morning, Costello posted on her Facebook about the attack in which her iPhone was stolen to warn about this popular new trend.

"Turns out, according to ABC news, cities across the country are on alert as officials warn of an uptick in stolen Apple products, dubbed "Apple picking" where thieves steal iPhones, wipe them clean and sell them for up to one thousand bucks," Costello wrote.
