Nokia Lumia 928 Revealed: ‘Vanity Fair’ Issue Teases Follow-Up To Window Phone Operated Lumia 920 [PHOTO]

There has been a great deal of speculation over what Nokia's follow-up to the Nokia Lumia 920 would be, and it has now been revealed in Vanity Fair. The Nokia Lumia 928, as it is officially called, is a Windows Phone-based handset that is soon coming to Verizon.

On Tuesday, May 7, Engadget posted an image of an advertisement for the Nokia Lumia 928 that appeared in the most recent issue of Vanity Fair magazine. The ad shows a phone being held in a person's hand as the person takes a photo or video of a family on the beach. Also in the ad are the logos of Verizon and Nokia, above the device's screen.

The text of the ad is unclear, but it is assumed to be promoting Nokia's PureView camera technology, the camera's Carl Zeiss optics and its capture of images in "low light," according to CNET.

"Nokia Lumia 928" clearly appears in the Vanity Fair ad, but Nokia has remained secretive on its teaser website.

The Nokia site says users should "stay tuned for updates about the newest Nokia Lumia."

Rumors began circulating in April that Nokia was soon bringing a new handset to Verizon. The rumors stated the Lumia 928 would come with a metal body, a 4.5-inch touchscreen and an 8-megapixel camera, CNET reports.

The low-light enabled camera has been a focal point for Nokia. CEO Stephen Elop stated that customers should expect Nokia to "continue to advance the state of the art" in imaging while presenting the company's first-quarter results.

Elop also mentioned that Nokia would launch a high-end Lumia with a leading U.S. operator by the end of June. Bloomberg news stated the launch would be even earlier, reporting that the device would be launched by Verizon in May.

On May 14, Nokia is scheduled to host a launch even in London to tell "the next chapter of the Lumia story." The Lumia 928 could very well be officially revealed there.
