Park Bo Gum's Past Financial Struggles Clarified By His Agency

The life of a celebrity is never all it's cracked up to be and for one of Korea's rising stars, the trip to the top certainly has not been a smooth one.

Park Bo Gum, who has been drawing attention recently due to his wildly popular role in the tvN series "Reply 1988," has had certain elements of his past dragged out recently.

It was revealed that last year, Park filed for bankruptcy, but after receiving the approval of his creditors, he was able to stop the process.

On March 2, Korean news outlet Yonhap News reported that at the end of 2014, Park was unable to pay his debt and ended up filing for bankruptcy to have it written off at the Seoul Central District Court. The court ended up approving his request.

Under mediation from a judge, he worked with his creditors to establish a six-month payment plan for the debt. However, Park's debt was not his own; it had been acquired by his family, allegedly from a business loan his father had taken out.

Park's agency, Blossom Entertainment, responded to the original Yonhap News report by stating, "Everything was taken care of a year ago and it was regarding his personal affairs, so we do not know the exact details of the situation."

"Right now the problem has been solved and there is no issue," the agency reiterated.

Park Bo Gum was reported to have co-signed the loans that were taken out, making it a family, rather than a personal issue.
