In an exclusive interview with Korean media outlet Osen News, Yang Hyun Suk, head of YG Entertainment, revealed some fascinating behind-the-scenes information about Lee Hi's new upcoming album, which is slated for release on March 9.
The interviewer asked Yang why Lee Hi's album is being broken up into two parts, to which he responded, "There is more than one title song that we want to present, so this will allow her an opportunity to promote on stage for longer."
"The two title songs to be released on March 9 are 'One Breath' and "Hold My Hand,'" he added.
The YG figurehead also shared an interesting fact about Lee Hi's new album. Although the majority was composed by hip-hop producer Tablo, Jonghyun, a member of boy group SHINee from rival agency SM Entertainment, also participated in the album's creation. "One of the title tracks, 'One Breath,' was written and composed by SHINee's Jonghyun."
"While listening to the album, I noticed that that song had a much different feel to it," Yang continued. "It left a deep impression on me, so I decided to make it a title track along with the one that Tablo recommended, 'Hold My Hand.'"
"It was only after we had scheduled the music video filming that Tablo told me the song was composed by Jonghyun." Yang explained. "He was afraid I would be biased against the song."
"But actually, I was glad that he had the foresight to recognize Jonghyun's potential." he added.
Both title tracks are said to be completely different from Lee Hi's usual singing style, according to Yang. "The album is based mostly on hip-hop sounds, so we expect a refreshing change for listeners to enjoy."
