A teacher died at a Cubs game choking on a hot dog.  Maureen Oleskiewicz, a 28-year old teacher, died at a Cubs game after choking on a hot dog she was eating.

The tragic incident occurred Sunday at a Cubs game in Wrigley Field, Chicago, around 1 p.m. Oleskiewicz was with her brother Martin just prior to the first pitch, eating a hot dog before the big game, laughing, and cheering.

"They're sitting there eating lunch before the game, looking at the field and the next thing she's on the floor," Margaret Oleskiewicz, Maureen's mother, told press "He didn't even know she was in distress and then she's on the floor."

According to the Chicago Tribune, Maureen's brother Martin thought it was a joke because she showed no signs of distress before then. Maureen went into cardiac arrest and never recovered, despite efforts to revive her.

The team said in a press release:

"The Chicago Cubs are saddened to hear news of the untimely death of Maureen Oleskiewicz. We express our deepest sympathy to her family and friends. We will continue to keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

The community at Independence Junior High in Palos Heights, Il., where Oleskiewicz taught 6th and 7th grade language arts, mourned her passing.

"There is no magic wand to fix what we cannot comprehend," District 128 Supt. Kathleen Casey wrote in a letter sent to parents at the school. "Maureen had a positive impact on countless students, parents and ... colleagues. Her vibrant, positive outlook on life and her joyful nature will be missed more than words can convey."
