Rihanna Cheered In Brooklyn After Booing In Boston; Singer Jeered For Showing Up Three Hours Late To Boston Gig

Boston may not have been happy to see Rihanna, but Brooklyn sure was. Just 24 hours after being in Boston for hitting the stage three hours late and without an opening act, Rihanna performed to cheers during her concert in Brooklyn on Tuesday. Rihanna took to the stage at the Barclays Center at 10:15 p.m. and performed a medley of her hit songs.

It was a stark contrast from Rihanna's show at the TD Garden in Boston on Monday, where she was jeered by the crowd for taking the stage at 10:30 p.m. and performing an abbreviated set. Her normal opening act, A$AP Rocky, was also not there to tide the crowd over. The Boston audience was also upset because the gig was a rescheduled performance after Rihanna cancelled the original show in March due to illness.

Of course, Rihanna didn't help her cause by taking the stage and not even acknowledging the excessive delay. She then added further fuel to the fire by tweeting on the concert and again failing to offer up an apology. "#Boston I will never forget this night!!! I truly have deeper love for you now!!! Thank you for making it extra special!!! #DWT," she tweeted.

It doesn't seem the feeling was mutual, though. Concertgoers took to Twitter and voiced their frustration over Rihanna's tardiness and reported lack of energy on stage. "Thank you @rihanna for playing an hour long concert and lip syncing the whole thing. I'm glad u "balled out" for Boston," wrote one fan.

It's been speculated that the reason for the three hour delay was that Rihanna was watching the Chicago Bulls-Miami Heat NBA playoff game. Others have suggested that she's been struggling to cope ever since Chris Brown publicly acknowledged their split earlier this week.

The European leg of Rihanna's world tour will kick off on May 26 in Bilbao, Spain.
