Now since the filming for ''Star Wars: Episode VIII'' has started and Mark Hamill joined the cast as Luke Skywalker, the excitement for the movie is building up. Carrie Fisher now has joined the cast as As General Leia Organa.

''Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran'' is what they had to mention about the cast of the movie.
Carrie Fisher who plays the role of General Leia Organa is the twin sister to Luke. She is the former princess of Alderaan and a General in the Resistance. Evening standard confirmed in an article which was published in Dec. 2015 that the entire cast will come back in the eighth instalment too.
"There will be a handful of new cast members in Episode VIII but also all the cast members you see here tonight will be in it as well'' confirmed ''Star Wars'' producer Kathleen Kennedy. "We're excited to get back together. We start shooting Episode VIII in January, we've been prepping the movie for the last year and (writer-and-director) Rian Johnson has been doing an amazing job," Kenndedy added further.
This movie is all set to open in cinemas on Dec 15, 2017. Now since the cast is finalised and the filming started in Feb. 2016, the fans can wait for the release of the movie. The photography already began on Sep.14, 2015 at Skellig Michael in Ireland. During the pre-production phase the photography began because due to weather conditions, it is difficult to use this location for all the time shooting.
