McDonald's Cuts Angus Burger From Menu Due To High Beef Prices And Low Sales[VIDEO]

The Angus Burger, which was introduced on the McDonald's menu in 2009, will soon be terminated from their menu. The highest priced item on the McDonald's menu will be cut and replaced with cheaper options. Burger King had recently taken off Their Angus option as well.

While these burgers will no longer be available in our restaurants, they may still play a future role on our menu," spokeswoman Danya Proud said.

The Angus burger was introduced 4 years ago. The high beef prices were not worth the low amount of sales. McDonald's will be replacing The Angus with some new items that have yet to be announced.

McDonald's Customers were not buying the angus burger because these are the consumers that are more concerned with buying a cheap meal than getting a quality sandwich.

The Dollar Menu has also made the Angus burger a less attractive option at around $4 to $5.

"When you can get four or five burgers off the Dollar Menu, nobody's going to buy the Angus burger," a consultant of McDonalds said. "The Dollar Menu has become a real problem for these chains."

At a time when the restaurant industry is barely growing, McDonald's has been playing up its Dollar Menu in ads to boost sales and steal customers away from competitors. Even if that hurts profit margins, executives say the strategy is critical to gaining market share and ensuring the long-term health of the company.

The burger chain is also cutting their unpopular Chicken Selects and Fruit & Walnut Salad. The higher quality items were not compatible to the McDonalds money saving menu.

McDonald's intends to expand its line of lower-cost Quarter Pounders in coming months, including an option with bacon.

They did hint at replacing the Angus choices for some brand new surprises on the menu. My guess is it's something lower in calories, and maybe even vegetarian, to keep up with the shifting changing in tastes to the 20 and 30-year-olds.

In order to lighten up their menu McDonald's did add Egg McMuffins on whole grain brain and made with egg whites, and a chicken McWrap.  McDonalds calls these healthier choices "Subway Busters" because they deter people from going to their competitor, "Subway."
