Arias Bomb Threat: Suspect Taken Into Custody: Laquint Cherry, 18, Arrested For Jodi Arias Trial Bomb Threat

Arias Bomb Threat: Authorities in Arizona have arrested a Phoenix man in connection with a bomb threat that was tweeted after the Jodi Arias trial verdict was announced.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Deputy Joaquin Enriquez told press that Laquint Cherry, 18, was taken into custody early Thursday for a bomb threat on the Arias trial's courtroom. Cherry currently faces a felony charge for making threats.

The bomb threat was reportedly found on a Twitter thread that referenced IEDs, or improvised explosive devices, at the Maricopa County Superior Court, where the Jodi Arias verdict was announced. It talked about a "BooooooM" that would happen Thursday afternoon.

In response, the sheriff's office increased security and conducted additional bomb sweeps but found nothing.

Enriquez says detectives traced the Twitter activity to a hotel in west Phoenix. The bomb squad and the SWAT team responded, and Cherry eventually came out of the hotel room. A woman around the same age who was with him was also questioned, but she was subsequently released.

Enriquez told press that the investigation is ongoing

On Wednesday, a jury for the controversial Jodi Arias case found Arias guilty of first-degree murder in the death of her lover, Travis Alexander, in June 2008.
