Jordin Sparks strolled down the red carpet at the 2013 Music Biz Awards on Thursday, showing off her slim body and trendy haircut. Sparks shed 50 pounds in the last two years. The American Idol winner had her beau Jason Derulo smiling by her side at the event.

Sparks, 23, was wearing a hip-hugging floral mini skirt, black top, and matching blazer at the Awards show presented by NARM and Musicbiz.org in New York City. She finished off her outfit with matching black peep-toes and a heavy gold necklace and bracelet. Her hair was pulled back in a polished ponytail.

Earlier that week, she surprised fans with wavy hair and eyebrow-skimming bangs.

Derulo, 23, was also looking fresh, in black pants, a gray printed jacket, and red shoes.

The couple was not afraid to show their love on the red carpet. Sparks even took a moment to kiss her boyfriend on the cheek in front of the paparazzi.

In 2009, she went through an appendicitis and surgery after a health scare. According to RealityTVMagazine, Sparks decided to lose weight and publicly announced her 50-pound weight loss two years later.

"And I was just like, I am not going to take my health for granted anymore. This changes right here, right now.

"For me to be on stage singing and dancing, the stamina that I have now is better," Sparks added. "I don't get sick as much anymore...I feel better, I have more energy, I sleep better...everything is better."
