WINGS’ Sets New Records For Kpop On ‘Billboard 200!’

'WINGS' by BTS

Billboard has been making charts for modern music for over 71 years. Some of their earlier charts include singers that most on today's chart holders have never even heard of.

But when it comes to overseas artist being on the top 200, it's still a rare thing, even in 2016 and very few have done it. But then again, Bangtan Boys aren't your typical group.

Leader Kim Namjoon, a.k.a. Rap Monster, and his boys, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are known for being one of the best groups to come out of Korea.

They are as well known as BIGBANG, SHINee, EXO, GOT7, CL, Girls Generation and so, so many more! (All of which are wonderful in their own right.)

When they started in 2013 with BigHit Entertainment, they had huge dreams and one-by-one accomplished each and every one of them. They are continuously breaking records on their home turf, Asia, and Europe, but making the Billboard 200? Well they can now mark that off their list...again.

On October 17, 2016, word spread like quickly throughout the internet and social media that the boys set a new US record on the infamous list, selling 16,000 units of their second full length album, 'WINGS,' with 11,000 of them being in traditional sales (a.k.a. actual psychical copies of the album.)

This is now their third record breaking record for Billboard 200, the previous two to being from their 'Most Beautiful Moment in Life,' series.

According to Billboard, "To date, less than a dozen K-pop acts have sent albums to the Billboard 200."

Congratulations BTS! Here's to many more to come!
