South Korea has this rule that every Korean male citizen has to render two years in the military. Nobody is exempted, even the artists, singers and idol. This year, Big Bang's TOP, JYJ's Junsu, former 2AM Seul Ong and rapper Beenzino has applied and passed the exams. Solo singer/actor Seo In Guk is also planning to go next year.
Big Bang's TOP, JYJ's Junsu has already a confirmed dates for their enlistments. Junsu and TOP will be entering the military early next year, February 9 and March 16, while former 2AM member Seul Ong and rapper Beenzino have both applied for conscripted policemen posts and participated in the preliminary examination though are still not sure as to when is the exact date.
However, according to Koreaboo, Beenzino's agency said that Beenzino did apply for the conscripted policemen post but did not take the exam. They added that Beenzino is eager to go to the active duty. Meanwhile, Seo In Guk will be on the active duty unlike the four.
Soompi reported that Seo In Gu has already been approve to join the active duty post. He said in an interview that people who knows him thinks he will adjust well in the military. He also said that, "Everyone has to go to the military, so I would like to enlist quietly." He added that he has no plans about wha the will do before enlisting. However, he said that fans will be sad if he doesn't do anything before enlisting so he's thinking of several different things.
Military enlistment is a very big deal in Korea. Every year, there are many actors and male idols who enlist in the army. Prominent idol members that are currently in the army are Super Junior's Donghae, Eunhyk, Ryeo wook, TVXQ's leader Yunho and JYJ's Jaejoong. It can make or break a career.
