CBS' long-running show, "How I Met Your Mother," finally revealed who the long-kept-secret mother will be: Tony nominated actress, Cristin Milioti.

After eight seasons and exactly 183 episodes, the mother who has long been the source of fascination for fans of "How I Met Your Mother," finally caught a glimpse of Ted Mosby's future wife, and its been confirmed as actress Cristin Milioti with her appearance in last night's season finale. 

The big reveal happened when her character went to purchase a ticket to Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robyn's (Cobie Smulders) wedding in the season eight finale of the popular CBS show, "How I Met Your Mother."

The final episode of the eighth season of "How I Met Your Mother" was almost over before the big reveal happened. Lily (Alyson Hannigan) was trying to comprehend Ted's (Josh Radnor) secret decision to move to Chicago.

Lily and husband, Marshall (Jason Segel) were thinking about moving to Italy in the season finale when Lily starts her new job.

The woman who is probably Ted's future bride and the focal point of the show's basic premise where Ted's character recounts to his future children "How I Met Your Mother," was walking through the train station carrying a yellow umbrella and a bass guitar.

Then she bought a single ticket to the fictional Farhampton, where Barney and Robyn are set to marry. The camera panned up to reveal...Cristin Milioti, finally giving fans a chance to see the future bride of Ted Mosby and the mother of "How I Met Your Mother."

Milioti is far from a household name, though. Many thought the casting decision would feature a big star like Kate Hudson, Rachel Bilson, or Britney Spears (the latter two of whom have already appeared on the show), but "How I Met Your Mother" producers went in a different direction with their choice of Milioti.

The 27-year-old Chrstin Milioti does have stage presence and can sing, which is good because "How I Met Your Mother" has a lot of song and dance numbers as part of it's goofy and irreverent narrative structures. Milioti was nominated for a Tony Award after her performance as Girl in the Broadway musical adaptation of the film "Once."

Milioti has appeared on the small screen before as a Johnny Sack's daughter in the "Sopranos," as "Sexy Baby" Abby Flynn on "30 Rock," and as a crackhead on "Nurse Betty." She's not totally unknown is the point, but she's mainly done character roles as one-off supporting roles on television before landing the gig as the mother on "How I Met Your Mother."

She'll appear on the big screen as Leonardo DeCaprio's first wife in the upcoming film, "The Wolf of Wall Street," from the best-selling memoir about the hard-partying former stockbroker, Jordan Belfort. She'll even get to kiss DeCaprio as part of her performance, so don't tell "How I Met Your Mother's" Ted Mosby! They're supposed to be married by the time "How I Met Your Mother" wraps it's ninth and final season next year.
