Brooke Meuller Rambles About Mafia And FBI Connections In Psychotic Episode; Charlie's Ex On Drugs Gets Sent To Rehab[VIDEO]

Brooke Mueller, Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, is reported to have been psychotically babbling about 'mafia connections' and ranting about being in the FBI when she was forced into psychiatric care earlier this month under suspicion of heavy drug abuse.

Mueller's troubles started on May 1st when a man called police to her home in Los Angeles saying Brooke had assaulted him. Mueller didn't deny the confrontation but she did tell police her interesting story.

The 35-year-old was ranting about an imaginary FBI investigation of her ex Charlie Sheen. The mother-of-two claimed she was an informant for the Federal Bureau and was going to bring her former husband down with her secret information.

Officers on the scene believed that she was inebriated and appeared to not have slept for days.

Her children, four-year-old twin boys Bob and Max who she shares with Sheen, were present in the house during the incident.

Police called the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, who reportedly have had an open case on the drug addicted mother.

The children are currently in the care of Sheen's other ex, Denise Richards. Brooke was placed under a three-day psychiatric hold and was later sent to rehab.

Apparently, Meuller, who isn't working, was nervous that her checks from Charlie were going to stop coming.  Reports claim that Charlie has no intention of cutting Ms. Meuller off. She is the mother of two of his children and he just wants her to get better. The anger that she had over being financially discontinued, plus the heavy drug use and lack of sleep, all lead to Brooke's hallucinated rant.

As for the drug that triggered the alleged psychotic episode, sources tell us it was Adderall, the same drug Lindsay Lohan feels she can't do without.

Ironically, Mueller just checked into the Betty Ford rehab facility in Rancho Mirage, California for a 30-day stay, exactly where Lindsay Lohan is at this very moment. Perhaps, they can share stories of their life choices. Sources say the two troubled starlets have bumped into one another inside the Ford Center.

Charlie Sheen's 3-year-old twins with Brooke Mueller were recently placed under the custody of Denise Richards after Children and Family Services found it unfit for the boys to stay with their mother.

Mueller and Sheen were married in 2008 and divorced in 2011 but the drug addicted stars always find their way back to each other. Meuller has had drug and alcohol issues for years, disappearing for long periods of time. Richards is a healthy, hands on mother that currently seems best suited to take care of the Sheen broad.

Charlie Sheen agrees that Denise Richards should be parenting the children while Meuller is furious that her children have been removed from her custody and given to Charlie's ex-wife.

Anybody that watched Paris Hilton's reality show "The World According To Paris" knows the addiction struggles that Brooke went through.  Paris and mom Kathy were constantly trying to keep Meuller sober and away from ex-Sheen, but in the end the troubled mother gave in to her demons and disappeared on frequent drug binges with Charlie.

"Brooke was given many opportunities by social workers to clean up her act. Social workers felt that Bob and Max weren't safe in Brooke's care. The decision was made late on Thursday afternoon, and the boys are no longer in Brooke's care. It's expected at some point the boys will be taken care of by Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Denise Richards, who has cared for them in the past when Brooke went to rehab," a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com.

This is not the first time that Richards is taking over the responsibility of looking after Meuller's kids. Last year, the twins were with Richards when their mother was undergoing treatment at a rehab facility.

They're our family and they're Sam and Lola's brothers, and I can't imagine growing up without my sister, so anytime she needs help, I'm there for the boys," Richards told Access Hollywood last year.

"I know it doesn't seem normal, but it is our normal. They're little kids and I love children, and like I said, it's our daughter's brothers, so I can't say no," Richards said.

Richards has two daughters with Sheen, Sam, 9, and Lola, 7, as well as a third daughter she adopted on her own in 2011, Eloise, almost 2.

A court hearing has been set to determine who will receive permanent custody of the twins.  But it is highly unlikely that Sheen would get custody, as he has been open about his own issues with drug and alcohol abuse.
