Bill Hader Leaving Saturday Night Live After Season Finale

With a heavy heart, "Saturday Night Live" will not be losing just one great comedic mind next year, but two. Bill Hader announced in the "New York Times" today that he shall be leaving after this Saturday's season finale, May 18th, 2013.

Seth Meyers announced his exit as well, but will work until mid-season of the 39th season next year, when he will leave to prepare for his new comedic endeavor - replacing Jimmy Fallon on the "Late Show."

Bill Hader, 34, the eight-year "SNL" veteran, is known for his outlandish characters and scarily accurate impersonations. "SNL" fans will soon be losing their beloved Stefon, their forever southern loving James Carville, dead-on Al Pacino, and slightly inebriated Vincent Price, just to name a few.

"It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point," said Bill Hader in an interview for the New York Times. "It got to a point where I said, 'Maybe it's just time to go.'"

Hader joined the "SNL" cast in 2005 and made his debut to studio 8H on October 1, 2005. Hader was nominated this past year for an Emmy for supporting actor in a comedy series. The last male member to receive this nomination was Eddie Murphy back in 1983.

Hader has performed in many box office hits including "Superbad," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," and "Adventureland."

Maggie Carey, Hader's wife, is a writer and director. The couple has two daughters, Hanna and Harper.

Early in his career, Hader moved to Los Angeles where he joined the L.A. branch of the Second City. Hader also performed and studied at iO West.

The future of long-time cast members Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis are still up in the air. While fans hope to see both on the stage for the 39th season once more, Amrisen's hit "Portlandia" may end up taking too make of the performers time. Sudeikis showed interest in leaving "SNL" last year, but returned for another hilarious season.
