Coming from the same scriptwriter of the Descendants of the Sun” the writer reuse the same elements into the tvN drama “Guardian/Goblin.” The writer Kim Eun-Sook also refurbished dialogues in the SBS drama into a parody in the “Guardian.”
One of the parody dialogue according to JTBC News is the dialogue when captain Yoo Si-Jin, the main character in “Descendants of the Sun” was asked about his occupation. In the SBS drama “Descendants of the Sun” he said that he is a soldier that followed command.
Lee Dong-Wook who played the character Grim Reaper in “Goblin” was also asked about his occupation by Sunny (Yoo In-Na). The Grim Reaper gave the exact answer as the captain Yoo said in the “Descendants of the Sun.”
However, there are not many Korean netizens that aware of such parody. That signifies how good the writer Kim in polishing her story.
Writer Kim is a renown scriptwriter who has the Midas touch when it comes to write the script for drama. Her popular works are the 2004 SBS drama “Lovers in Paris” and also “Secret Garden” (SBS, 2010), “A Gentleman's Dignity”(SBS, 2012) and her first project for KBS is “Descendants of the Sun.”
“Guardian” has continued to deliver better and better result. As a cable channel drama, more than 10 percent ratings is a monumental achievement. It is because, usually the rating of the program aired in the cable channel is relatively four times lower than the terrestrial channel such as KBS, MBC and SBS.
Moreover, the drama has also scored big in its OST according to Asia Today. The song “Beautiful” is able to compete with Big Bang and EXO in the Korean music chart. As for now, it ranked 3r in the Melon and Mnet, 2nd place in the Naver, Bugs and Soribada.
But after Ji Eun-Tak failed to pull the sword from Goblin’s chest in the “Guardian” Episode 6, there may be a slight decline in the storyline. As for now, watch the preview of “Goblin” Episode 7 below:
