The return of Han Suk-Kyu to television drama in “Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim” has earned him a great reward. He received the highest award in the SBS Drama Awards in the SAF Award Festival. Apparently he has a certain secret to his acting.
Han recevies the highest award the Grand Prize at the SBS Drama Awards ceremony which was part of SAF SBS Festival as reported by Chosun Ilbo. The ceremony was held at SBS Prism Tower, situated in the Sangam Don, Seoul on Dec. 31.
He received similar awards five years ago in the period drama “Deep Rooted Tree” in his role as King Sejong the Great in his early years of reign. This year, he won the Grand Prize in his role as a surgeon in the “Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim.” In his acceptance speech, he delivers a deep philosophical thought about the experience with an analogy to dakness and light.
“Without the darkness, the stars and the light can not be seen. Therefore, I believe darkness and light are one.”
The 52-year old is a renowned actor with more than 20 years of experience in the Korean cinema industry. His acting in the “Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim” to junior actors has the same effect as Teacher Kim’s effect in the drama. As his two co-stars, Yoo Yeon-Seok and Seo Hyun-Jin won the Excellence Award for Drama genre in the same night. Yoo and Seo also won the Best Couple Awards as reported by Seoul Daily News.
The secret in Han’s wonderful acting is in his natural approach to his character. Whether he played a secret agent in the movie “Berlin File” or a wise king Sejong in the “Deep Rooted Tree” or the opposite king Yeongjo in “The Secret Door,” he always delivers great acting naturally. His approach in dwell into the character he plays in every movie or drama makes him looks like he does not act but he is the person.
