New York Cop Chokes 22-Year-Old In Own Kitchen, Curses And Threatens Man

A video shows a New York cop from Suffolk County, a suburb in Long Island, New York choking a 22-year-old man in his own kitchen and threatening to “beat the living shit” out of him. Michael Schuchman appears to be telling the officer to “get out” of his home when the officer responds by placing his hands around Schuchman’s neck, choking him in the process, the Gothamist reports.

The officer then said, “Otherwise I'll beat the living shit out of you and drag your fucking ass to jail—got it?” The cop added, “I'm telling you right fucking now, you'd better watch your fucking tone with me. I don't care how much you've fucking had to drink tonight."

The Suffolk County Police Department told Long-Island, New York-newspaper Newsday that the incident occurred on March 28th when officers were responding to complaints of a large party at a home in Sound Beach and dispersed the crowd.

According to the 22-year-old Schuchman, no more than 15 people were at his house during the party when the police arrived. The Sound Beach resident told Newsday, "I told him multiple times he couldn't come in without a warrant. That's why he was mad in the first place.” Schuchman confirmed with investigators he doesn't want to press charges. He said, “As long as he's learned his lesson, I don't want to get him fired."

The young man’s aunt, Anna Schuchman, lives next door and said that the late night parties are getting out of hand. She said that officers have been called several times to disperse crowds, but the partygoers taunt the cops saying “I know my rights.”

“I’m so very upset about this,” she said, “This cop was doing his job.”

The Suffolk County Police Department in a statement said that they aware of the video and are investigating the matter, “At the conclusion of the investigation, we will take appropriate action.”
